Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Project Buyer I or II – Solar to coordinate procurement of materials, equipment and services for project teams. Base pay ranges are stated for both levels, with location-based variability and incentive eligibility.

This role emphasizes supplier management, cost control and strategic procurement to support solar projects. The selected candidate will negotiate, track orders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on procurement strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.
• Current driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, interview prospective suppliers, and select suppliers
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery time
• Develop profitable purchasing strategies and propose procurement solutions that deliver value and reduce risk
• Create and maintain procurement logs for each supported operating group project
• Negotiate with suppliers to purchase items and services at the most favorable price
• Prepare purchase agreements and purchase orders ensuring contractual terms and quality standards
• Track order status from placement to delivery and communicate status to project teams
• Visit project sites to understand challenges and streamline procurement processes
• Lead special projects as requested
• Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
