Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Project Buyer I or II to support the Power Delivery Operating Group. You will build supplier relationships, manage procurement activities, and ensure timely delivery of materials and electrical equipment for substations, wind collection systems, and transmission lines.

The position is offered at two levels (I or II) with compensation determined by experience and location. Base pay ranges are provided for both levels and vary by office location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or related discipline.
• Ability to manage multiple procurement activities with accuracy and timeliness.
• Knowledge of construction processes, equipment, and materials, purchasing processes and procedures.
• Strong negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and analytical abilities.
• Active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Proficiency with relevant software.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Purchase equipment and materials at the best value while meeting quality, quantity, and specification requirements.
• Collaborate with project, estimating, and design teams to align supply chain strategies with project goals.
• Plan material needs early to secure long-lead items and critical-path items.
• Solicit bids, analyze quotations, and select suppliers based on cost and schedule.
