Job summary

Mortenson in Florida is seeking a Solar Electrical Journeyman to provide skilled craft for installation and maintenance of electrical systems on solar projects.

You will measure, cut, bend wire, install conduit, use tools, lift and position equipment, and pull DC/MV wire while following procedures and safety standards. The role requires teamwork, reliability, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Trade or technical school certification preferred.
• Apprentice aptitude test required.
• Current driver’s license.

Solar Electrical Journeyman

Mortenson is currently seeking a Solar Electrical Journeyman that will be responsible for providing skilled craftsmanship for maintenance and installation of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit utilizing various hand tools
• Safely utilize hand and power tools after proper training (drills, crimpers, cutters, etc.)
• Lift, position, and fasten objects
• Prepare, handle, and supply materials and tools used by electrical trades
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment
• Work under immediate and close supervision according to standard instructions and established procedures
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned
• Pull DC and MV wire

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum two years of related experience
• Trade or technical school certification/diploma
• Apprentice aptitude test
• Project specific/Mortenson training
• Current driver’s license
• Ability to speak and understand English (Spanish is a plus); some ability to read plans; shown emotional intelligence; ability to operate equipment such as table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems
• Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, active listening skills, and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs.
