Job summary

PCL Solar Constructors USA Inc. in Katy, Texas seeks a Solar Designer to lead design from concept through delivery of renewable energy projects. You will review concept design, coordinate with substation and PV engineers, and assist with feasibility studies and tendering.

Ideal candidates hold a degree in engineering or a related field, with 0–1 year drafting/designer experience, and familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil3D. Join a team focused on growth, safety and project excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, architecture, trade or a related field.
• 0-1 years of progressive experience as a drafter/designer is preferred
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including supervisors and subtrade partners.

Responsibilities

• Reviews overall concept design, detailed layout, and DC electrical design.
• Reviews overall substation concept design and coordinates with substation and PV engineers to optimize design details.
• Participates in estimates to secure new work including in renewable energy; assists with feasibility and tendering in pre-contract stages and detailed design in execution phase.
• Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts, including risk and risk mitigation plans.
• Manages design development with external design consultants and the commissioning program.
• Documents field records for quality, production, labor, and materials.
