Job summary

SpaceX in Texas is hiring a Chemical Texturing Equipment Engineer to own and scale wet chemical texturing and preclean tools for silicon heterojunction solar cell production in a high-volume facility.

You will partner with process and facilities teams to maximize tool uptime, drive reliability, and implement maintenance programs while ensuring safety, cleanroom standards, and readiness for Starlink satellite production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level technical degree required with hands-on equipment ownership
• Experience with hazardous chemical handling in manufacturing environments
• Strong background in high-throughput chemical processing equipment

Responsibilities

• Install, qualify, maintain, and improve high-throughput texturing and preclean equipment
• Drive reliability and uptime to support large-volume production and reduce downtime
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and spare parts programs
• Lead root cause analysis on equipment issues including chemical delivery systems and automation
• Collaborate with Process Engineers to implement new process requirements on equipment
• Evaluate next-generation texturing tools for 1GW+ per tool scale production
• Work with vendors on equipment design improvements and upgrades
• Establish performance metrics (OEE, MTBF, MTTR) for hardware stability
• Ensure equipment meets cleanroom, safety, and high-reliability standards
• Analyze production processes from first principles
• Present factory state updates to leadership
