Job summary

SpaceX in Austin, TX is seeking a Sr. Chemical Texturing Equipment Engineer to own wet chemical texturing and preclean tools for silicon solar cell production at scale.

You will ensure tool availability, stability, and uptime to enable world-class performance for the Starlink program and future missions. You will collaborate with facilities and process teams, drive maintenance strategies, and lead equipment improvements to meet safety and reliability standards in a high-volume manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience owning and maintaining chemical process equipment in high-volume settings.
• Experience handling hazardous chemicals safely.

Responsibilities

• Install, qualify, maintain, and improve high-throughput texturing and preclean equipment for silicon solar cell manufacturing.
• Drive equipment reliability and uptime to support very large volume production with minimal downtime.
• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and spare parts programs.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions on equipment issues including chemical delivery systems and robotics.
• Partner with process engineers to implement new requirements on existing equipment platforms.
• Evaluate and select next-generation tools capable of 1GW+ per tool scale production.
