Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Chemical Texturing Equipment Engineer for Starlink solar cell production. You will own wet texturing and preclean tools, ensuring tool availability, uptime, and scaling to meet massive production goals for Starlink satellites and future missions.

You will collaborate with Process Engineers and vendors, drive reliability, and implement robust maintenance plans while maintaining strict safety and cleanroom standards across high-volume manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 2+ years owning chemical process equipment.
• Experience handling hazardous chemicals safely in a high-volume environment.
• Experience in semiconductor or solar manufacturing settings with high uptime requirements.
• Familiarity with texturing tool architecture and process control handling.

Responsibilities

• Install, qualify, maintain, and improve high-throughput texturing and preclean equipment for silicon solar cells.
• Drive equipment reliability and uptime for large-scale production with minimal downtime.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance strategies and spare parts programs.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions on equipment issues including delivery systems and automation.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers to implement new requirements on equipment platforms.
• Evaluate next-generation texturing tools to support large-scale production.
• Work with vendors on equipment design improvements and upgrades.
• Establish performance metrics and SPC for hardware stability.
• Ensure compliance with cleanroom, safety, and high-reliability standards.
