Job summary

AES operates the Waikoloa solar+battery facility on Hawaii's Big Island, seeking a Field Operations Technician 1 to join the team onsite. You will assist with preventive and corrective maintenance, support Senior Technicians, and help ensure safe, reliable operation of PV modules, inverters, and BESS while coordinating with local crews.

You will communicate effectively, use field devices, and participate in ongoing construction activities, with travel to regional sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or journeyman qualification preferred.
• Experience with solar PV systems and electrical installations.
• Able to work onsite in Waikoloa, Hawaii and travel regionally.

Responsibilities

• Listen, collaborate, and apply troubleshooting skills to preventative and corrective O&M tasks.
• Support Senior Technicians and coordinate with Team Leader and safety personnel.
• Maintain documentation for tickets, reports, and safety permits in compliance with EHSS requirements.
• Assist in scheduling site trainings and qualification efforts; coordinate with contractors as needed.
• Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently, aiding in achieving maximum availability.
