Job summary

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) – Northeast Region in Green Bay, WI – is seeking a Transportation Technician Lab Intern for hands-on soils and materials testing. This part-time internship during the school year may become full-time in the summer and is limited to 1,039 hours.

Under supervision, interns perform tests, record data, prepare test reports, and assist with related duties in a busy regional lab.

Qualifications

• Experience with and ability to follow technical instructions.
• Experience providing administrative support (such as emailing, researching, document management, etc.).
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) or a similar software.

Responsibilities

• Perform soils and material testing in the Northeast Region Materials Lab. Check special provisions of contracts for testing requirements and specifications.
• Perform the following tests: Atterberg Limits, Soil particle size, Aggregate gradation, Concrete cylinder test breaking, Asphalt Testing, Nuclear Testing
• Record data, make required computations, and prepare test reports ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Assist with additional soils/materials duties as needed.
