Job summary

Intertek is seeking an Engineering Technician for our Waukesha, Wisconsin office to perform a range of field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, and other construction materials. The role involves working outdoors on various sites, documenting results, and coordinating with project teams.

This position requires reading and applying plans, attention to safety, and the ability to lift heavy loads. The successful candidate will join a team focused on testing, inspection, and quality

Qualifications

• Must have basic math, calculator and computer skills.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
• Must be able to read and understand work plans.
• Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record.
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time; work outdoors in adverse weather.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally; climb occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Operates testing equipment and conducts testing (soil, concrete, etc.) and documents results.
• Performs field and laboratory testing of soil samples and concrete specimens.
• Documents daily activities and testing results and prepares field reports.
• Works using drawings, specifications and diagrams.
• Works outdoors on construction sites year-round.
• Makes detailed observations and provides limited interpretation of results.
• Maintains detailed data and documentation from test results.
• Interacts with clients and project teams to communicate findings.
