Job summary

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Northeast Region (NER) is seeking a Transportation Technician Lab Intern for hands-on soils and materials testing. Headquarters in Green Bay, WI, this LTE position offers part-time hours during the school year and potential full-time in summer.

Qualified candidates will assist with test procedures, data recording, and reporting, while gaining experience in a state DOT lab environment.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented and able to follow technical instructions.
• Experience providing administrative support (emailing, researching, document management).
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software.
• Experience with material testing and reading/interpreting technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform soils and material testing in the Northeast Region Materials Lab.
• Check special provisions of contracts for testing requirements and specifications.
• Perform tests: Atterberg Limits, Soil particle size, Aggregate gradation, Concrete cylinder test breaking, Asphalt Testing, Nuclear Testing.
• Record data, make computations, and prepare test reports ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with additional soils/materials duties as needed.
