Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a Soil Lab Technician in Temecula, CA to support geotechnical and environmental projects. You will ensure accurate soil sampling, perform field tests, and conduct laboratory analyses, contributing to data-driven engineering decisions.

The role combines outdoors fieldwork with precise lab work, requiring attention to safety and quality. Suitable for candidates with 0–2 years in related fields and a passion for data integrity and problem solving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; geology/civil engineering coursework is a plus
• 0–2 years in construction, geotechnical, or environmental fieldwork; soil testing/inspection experience helpful
• ACI Concrete Certification
• Familiar with soil and concrete testing methods
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; comfortable with tablets/digital reporting tools
• Able to work outdoors in varying conditions and lift equipment as needed
• Knowledge of health and safety protocols and SOPs
• Strong communication/interpersonal skills with contractors/project managers
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to travel to project sites and adapt to schedules
• Able to pass drug screening and background checks

Responsibilities

• Collect soil samples from field sites using proper sampling techniques
• Conduct field tests: soil density, moisture content, compaction
• Perform lab tests: grain size, Atterberg limits, soil classification
• Record and analyze test data with accuracy and precision
• Prepare detailed test reports and documentation
• Maintain and calibrate field/lab equipment
• Ensure safety protocols and SOP adherence
• Assist in preparing project proposals and technical reports
• Communicate findings to Project Manager/Supervisor
• Participate in quality control/assurance programs
