Job summary

Heartland Co-op seeks a conservation sales agronomist to educate farmers on soil health and conservation practices, lead field events, and support data-driven programs. You will collaborate with NRCS and other partners to expand adoption and report outcomes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), strong analytical and communication skills, and willingness to work in variable outdoor conditions across Iowa.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; or 5–10 years related experience/training.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical materials and regulations.
  • Ability to perform mathematical concepts including statistics, geometry, and trig.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
  • Proficient use of spreadsheet, word processing and accounting software; ability to link PC systems to Precision Ag hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and sell soil health and conservation farming practices to Heartland’s farmer customers and prospects.
  • Coordinate with NRCS staff and conservation organizations to build partnerships and programs.
  • Provide technical and logistical support for conservation programs and grants.
  • Assist agronomists with field days, grower meetings, and educational events.
  • Prepare work plans, budgets, reports and grant applications.
  • Maintain data integrity for the Conservation Sales Manager platform.
