Job summary

The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a Software Specialist I to support the Jindal School of Management (JSOM) with desktop provisioning, software troubleshooting, and user assistance. This role focuses on deploying standard images to new devices and resolving hardware/software issues in a campus environment.

Primary duties include assisting staff and faculty, handling tickets, and supporting AV podiums in classrooms.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent IT certifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Additionally, ability to research, work on, or access critical infrastructure per Texas policy is a minimum qualification to be hired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist JSOM staff and faculty with desktops, laptops, applications, and related technology.
  • Provide support by troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Resolve issues or assign tickets as necessary.
  • Answer support calls for assistance with AV Podiums in classrooms.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the JSOM Technology and Facilities department as necessary.

Job description

The University of Texas at Dallas has an excellent job opportunity for individuals looking to join our team as a Software Specialist I in the Jindal School of Management ( JSOM ).

Prepares new desktops and laptops for deployment by applying the standard JSOM image to them as they are received. Assist staff and faculty with data migration from old devices. Troubleshoot wireless network connectivity problems on Windows and Apple laptops and tablets as well as, Android and IOS devices. Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent IT certifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
