SQA Engineer
Job Overview
This position involves the testing of the software control of Ion Implanter developed for wafer processing by Axcelis Technologies. The ideal candidate has a strong background in working on complex electro‑mechanical systems and product testing.
Responsibilities
- Work in a team environment to review requirements and design.
- Develop and validate test case matrices that cover all hardware and software requirements, focusing on customer use cases.
- Develop and validate hardware and software installation procedures for release to internal and external customers.
- Operate Ion Implant equipment and Simulator system to perform hardware and software validation, utilizing various test methodologies, tools, and applications.
- Investigate issues arising during testing, identify root causes, and formulate containment, corrective, and preventive actions.
- Generate detailed daily reports capturing all test results and issues found.
- Document issues in a defect tracking system with clear problem statements, root causes, supporting data and logs, and steps to reproduce with expected behavior.
- Work in a clean‑room environment wearing a full clean‑room suite and following clean protocol.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting test results.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills for hardware and software failures.
- Ability to recognize equipment malfunction or operating problems and provide detailed reports.
- Knowledge of high‑voltage & high‑current power supplies, high‑vacuum systems, electro‑mechanical robots, and hardware communication protocols.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings for installation and validation.
- Experience using multimeter, oscilloscope, and various hand tools.
- Experience soldering electronic components and crimping electrical wires.
- Knowledge of semiconductor ion implant equipment or related semiconductor equipment, semiconductor industry processes and standards, semiconductor factory automation SECS/GEM, SEMI standard electrical and mechanical design standards.
- Software programming languages: C, C++, C#, Unix shell scripting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
- Experience in product or system testing, preferably in an industrial environment.
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel.
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Beverly, MA.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $66,600.00 – $99,900.00.
- Eligible for the Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan.
- Comprehensive benefits package for regular employees working 20+ hours a week.
