We are seeking a dynamic Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. Your responsibilities will include conducting internal quality audits (Automotive, ISO 26262, ASPICE) and interfacing with customers. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for engineering.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with development and product management to balance safety, quality, and commercial requirements across various industries including aerospace, automotive, industrial, and medical.
• Contribute to testing strategies.
• Conduct Functional Safety Audits and Confirmation Reviews for software safety projects.
• Support software and hardware development teams regarding quality and product lifecycle management.
• Work with the Safety Manager to ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) supports functional safety certifications such as ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
• Improve the QMS and maintain ISO 9001 certification.
• Perform quality assurance process and work product audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• At least 5 years of experience in software (DO-178C), complex electronic hardware (DO-254), or equivalent embedded development industry experience.
• Experience with QMS compliance standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 21434, CMMI, IEC 62304, and Automotive SPICE.
• Aerospace experience with DO-178C/DO-254 is preferred; provisional or competent assessors are encouraged to apply.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust within teams.
• Experience with management system auditing, especially ISO 9001.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of software quality management systems, quality control methodologies, and tools.
• Preference for candidates located in the Hartford area; willingness to travel approximately four weeks per year.
