Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ, seeks a Principal Engineer to lead embedded software efforts as an IPT Lead on an AMRAAM development program. You will guide a software team, provide technical oversight, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to meet customer requirements and drive long-term capability growth.

You will manage CAM responsibilities, participate in milestones, and push process improvements while mentoring staff to strengthen technical depth and leadership within the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8+ years relevant experience.
• Technical leadership on embedded software with Agile processes.
• Experience leading IPTL/CAM responsibilities and duties.
• Experience integrating hardware and software in complex systems.
• Experience with Embedded C++ and RTOS.
• Active and transferable Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead software product areas backlog alignment and guide teams through development, integration, and qualification.
• Serve as CAM for planning, budgeting, EV, forecasting, and variance across all software efforts.
• Prepare BOEs for new business capture and strategic growth opportunities.
• Prepare and present review materials for major milestones (IDR, CTT, TRR, TRB, CTS).
• Develop and execute software strategies to meet cost and schedule objectives, mitigating risks.
• Collaborate across program leadership, SMEs, and IPTs for alignment on priorities and execution.
• Innovate and implement process improvements to reduce cost and strengthen team performance.
• Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced staff to build depth and leadership.
• Recognize and celebrate team achievements to foster a high-performance culture.
