Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the Software IPT for an AMRAAM development program based in Tucson, AZ. This on-site role requires steering software across product areas, owning schedule, cost, and risk management, and coordinating with program leadership to deliver critical milestones.

Ideal candidates have embedded C++ experience, a strong background in software integration and verification, and an active DoD Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship is required for this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM required with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Embedded C++ software development on an integrated product team.
• Experience with software integration, verification, and qualification processes.
• Hands-on leadership on embedded software programs using agile methods.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Provide software leadership and support Product Owners of two software areas, aligning backlogs with program objectives.
• Act as CAM with planning, budgeting, EV, forecasting, and variance management across software efforts.
• Prepare BOEs for new business capture and support strategic growth opportunities.
• Develop and present materials for major milestones (IDR, CTT, TRR, TRB, CTS).
• Mentor staff to build technical depth and leadership capability.
