Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Melbourne, FL seeks a Software Functional Manager to lead a ~10–15 engineer team on MDC2 programs. You will blend functional management with hands-on software development, focusing on C++ coding, software design, testing, and adherence to NGAS/MDC2 standards.

The role requires a strong software background and DO-178 familiarity, with 15–20% management and 80–85% hands-on contributions. Secure a TS or higher program access clearance as needed.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field with 9+ years of related engineering experience or Master's with 7+ years.
• Excellence in software engineering and knowledge of the full software lifecycle.
• Lead or management experience in a team environment.
• Familiar with aviation software certification (DO-178) and safety-critical systems.
• Experience in one or more languages: C, C++, C#, Ada, Java, etc.
• Experience with test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tools.

Responsabilidades

• Manage day-to-day communications, performance review, mentoring, and career development for ~10–15 engineers.
• Staffing support: recruiting, interviews, and hiring.
• Recommend raises and promotions based on performance.
• Provide detailed performance feedback and conduct 1-on-1s and appraisals.
• Coach engineers on technical and career development.
• Ensure staff have adequate statement of work to meet contract objectives.
• Collaborate with program management and IPT leads on goals and evaluations.
