Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Aurora, Colorado seeks a Functional Software Engineering Manager Level 2 to lead a diverse 12-15 engineer direct‑reports across SW Engineering, DevOps, and AI/ML. This dual‑track role blends hands-on technical execution with people leadership and reports to the SW Department Manager.

The successful candidate will require a direct program position prior to starting. The position includes coaching, staffing, and technology leadership responsibilities on an upcoming program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 8+ years in Software Eng/DevOps/AI.
• Active Top-Secret clearance and SCI eligibility at time of application.
• Minimum of 5 years direct technical execution in Software Eng, DevOps, or AI/ML.

Responsibilities

• Team Coaching & Development—lead, mentor, and grow software, DevOps, and AI engineers; conduct regular 1:1s and staff meetings.
• Staffing & Talent Acquisition—own full hiring lifecycle: planning, recruiting, onboarding, retention.
• AI Solution Development—identify and implement AI solutions to accelerate tasks and drive data-driven talent development.
• Performance Management—set goals, conduct reviews, and recognize high-impact contributions.
• Process Rigor—enforce engineering standards, agile/lean practices, and continuous improvement.
• Employee Relations—partner with HR on matters and ensure policy compliance.
