Job summary

Aqua Finance is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a fully distributed engineering team that builds reliable, high-quality software for U.S. customers.

You will partner with product, architecture, and other engineering teams to convert business priorities into scalable solutions and to challenge estimates and approaches as needed. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline, or commensurate work experience.
• 5 years of professional software development experience with solid depth in C# and the .NET platform.
• Required 3 years of people management experience in a technical field.
• Proven track record delivering complex software projects with distributed or remote teams.
• Experience across full software development lifecycle (design, test, deploy, operate).
• Financial industry experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze problems to root causes and challenge estimates, designs, and approaches.
• Knowledge of solution architecture, secure coding, design principles, and system scalability.
• Experience with cloud-hosted application development (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Familiarity with CI/CD, agile methodologies, and AI-assisted development tools.
• Proven ability to coach and grow engineers at different levels.
• Strong product and business mindset with focus on outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, coach, and retain engineers; create growth plans and give timely feedback.
• Own team planning, prioritization, and delivery with product management.
• Critically evaluate development estimates and proposed technical solutions.
• Investigate root causes of delivery delays; drive durable fixes.
• Review code and designs to uphold quality, security, and maintainability.
• Encourage responsible use of AI tools to boost productivity and code quality.
• Promote testing, CI/CD, observability, and documentation; balance debt and features.
• Ensure reliable production systems with on-call, incident response, and postmortems.
• Define and report team health and delivery metrics; use data to improve.
• Communicate progress, risks, and blockers clearly to stakeholders.
