Job summary

Aqua Finance, Inc. seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead a fully distributed engineering team, driving delivery, quality, and growth. You will coach engineers, partner with product and architecture, and challenge estimates to ensure reliable software that moves the business forward.

You will guide technical decisions, promote modern engineering practices, and maintain a culture of ownership and continuous improvement while aligning with Aqua’s customer-first approach and Midwestern values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field.
• 5+ years professional software development with deep C#/.NET.
• 3+ years people management in a technical field.
• Experience delivering complex software with distributed teams.
• Cloud experience with Azure/AWS/GCP.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and secure coding.
• Strong problem-solving and communication.
• Financial industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, coach and retain engineers with growth plans.
• Own team planning, prioritize and ensure delivery of quality systems.
• Critically evaluate estimates and proposed solutions.
• Investigate delays and incidents, drive durable fixes.
• Review code and designs to uphold standards.
• Encourage use of AI tools to boost productivity.
• Promote CI/CD, testing, observability, and docs.
• Ensure reliable production systems with on-call and postmortems.
• Define and report team health and delivery metrics.
• Communicate progress and blockers to stakeholders.
• Establish norms for remote multi-time-zone teams.
• Contribute to department planning and culture.
