Jobtailor is seeking a senior software engineering leader in the United States to guide cross-border teams and drive enterprise-scale solutions. You will own architecture direction, governance, and delivery across multiple regions, while mentoring engineers and improving delivery quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• 6+ years in software design, programming and Java-based development
• 4+ years leading Agile software development teams
• 4+ years in software operations including CI/CD, DevOps, SRE, observability
• 2+ years of technical planning and solution architecture
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver software solutions using appropriate technologies, frameworks, and methodologies
• Continuously improve platform performance and development efficiency
• Partner with architecture teams to ensure compliance with global technology standards
• Audit application portfolios to eliminate duplication and improve efficiency
• Drive legacy transformation initiatives aligned with global technology lifecycle strategies
• Lead and provide technical direction to software engineering teams across Canada and Mexico
• Mentor and develop high-performing engineering talent
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Support regional managers in achieving market objectives through technology leadership
• Report technology and quality initiatives to the Engineering Director
• Own quality and security practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle
• Improve engineering transparency, metrics collection, and incident resolution processes
• Promote adoption of software craftsmanship principles and engineering best practices
• Identify and implement new technologies and digital initiatives that improve efficiency
• Manage technology vendors and external partners to optimize delivery, value, and cost effectiveness
• Support IT budgeting, resource planning, governance, and investment decisions
• Ensure alignment, transparency, and return on technology investments
• Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to translate business needs into technology solutions
• Build strong relationships across teams to promote knowledge sharing and eliminate duplicate or conflicting solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field OR a combination of education and experience


• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience


• 6+ years of experience in software design, programming, design patterns, and Java-based development


• Experience developing testable software features and conducting effective code reviews


• 4+ years of experience leading Agile software development teams and delivering enterprise-scale products


• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills


• 4+ years of experience in software operations, including CI/CD, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability, application support, and maintenance


• 2+ years of experience in technical planning and solution architecture


• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
