Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries Mission Technologies seeks a Software Engineer to support the Unmanned Maritime Systems Support program. The role features a Hybrid schedule (1–2 days onsite weekly) and focuses on developing software for unmanned underwater platforms and TAK-enabled systems.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, contribute to mission‑critical software, and support testing and deployment activities in national defense environments.

Qualifications

• Five years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/IT (or 3 years with a Master’s; 0 with PhD) or nine years with a high school diploma.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including design, debugging, and code quality best practices.
• Experience developing software within distributed, modular, or service‑oriented architectures.
• Must have a current or active DoD SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications using C#.
• Build and integrate plug‑ins for WinTAK, ATAK, and TAK Server environments.
• Support software development for MK18 systems including Hydroid VIP, Neptune, and Coin Nexus.
• Translate requirements into technical solutions with cross‑functional teams.
• Troubleshoot and optimize software performance in distributed and tactical environments.
• Participate in code reviews and follow secure coding practices.
• Support integration testing, validation, and verification of software components.
• Contribute to government and fleet test events and develop test plans and reports.
• Develop and update engineering documentation, briefs, analyses, and program reviews.
