Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE (or equivalent) with 5 years of exp; Masters with 3 years acceptable.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen; no dual citizenship.
• Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
• Hands-on frontend development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Experience with React/Angular/Vue, Material UI, and Git/GitHub or GitLab.
• Experience in cloud environments (AWS or Azure).
• Experience integrating front-end apps with backend RESTful APIs.

SAIC's STG is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Front-End Software Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain modern, accessible, and user-centric web applications. You will collaborate with UX designers, backend engineers, data scientists, and AI/ML specialists to integrate AI-driven insights into intuitive front-end experiences that support complex, high-stakes decision-making workflows. While your primary focus will be front-end development, you will also work closely with cloud and backend services teams to ensure secure, performant, and scalable end-to-end solutions in support of Veterans and the VA mission. This position can be worked remotely within the United States for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain front-end web applications using modern web technologies (e.g., TypeScript/JavaScript and React, Angular, or similar frameworks).
• Build and style responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces that provide a polished and effective user experience for VA stakeholders.
• Integrate front-end components with backend REST services and APIs, collaborating closely with backend engineers to support AI-enabled workflows.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to incorporate AI-driven insights and decision support into intuitive user interfaces and front-end workflows, including using AI tools (e.g., Claude) to assist with development and research.
• Implement front-end best practices for performance, security, and scalability in a cloud-hosted environment (e.g., AWS or Azure).
• Work with UX designers and product owners to translate requirements and wireframes into production-ready UI components and screens.
• Support front-end testing, debugging, and performance optimization, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing where applicable.
• Maintain clear documentation for front-end components, UI patterns, and integration points with APIs and platform services.

• Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification within 90 days of employment.

• Front-End Development:
• Hands-on experience building front-end web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with at least one modern front-end framework or library (e.g., ReactJS, Angular, or Vue).
• Experience with Material UI or a similar component library.
• Experience using version control (Git) with platforms such as GitLab or GitHub.
• Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• API Integration: Experience integrating front-end applications with backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Delivery & Collaboration: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative Agile environment.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
