SAIC is seeking a Senior Front-End Software Engineer within our STG to design, develop, and maintain modern, accessible, user-centric web apps for VA. You will work with UX, backend, data science, and AI/ML teams to create AI-enabled front-end experiences that support high-stakes decision-making.

You’ll contribute to UI production, test and optimize performance, and document components and APIs. Remote work within the United States is possible for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Hands-on front-end development with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience with at least one modern front-end framework (React/Angular/Vue).
• Experience with UI component libraries (e.g., Material UI).
• Experience with version control (Git) using GitLab or GitHub.
• Cloud experience (AWS or Azure) and RESTful API integration.
• Strong problem-solving in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

Job description

SAIC’s STG is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Front-End Software Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain modern, accessible, and user‑centric web applications. You will collaborate with UX designers, backend engineers, data scientists, and AI/ML specialists to integrate AI‑driven insights into intuitive front‑end experiences that support complex, high‑stakes decision‑making workflows. While your primary focus will be front‑end development, you will also work closely with cloud and backend services teams to ensure secure, performant, and scalable end‑to‑end solutions in support of Veterans and the VA mission.

This position can be worked remotely within the United States for the right candidate.

Design, develop, and maintain front‑end web applications using modern web technologies (e.g., TypeScript/JavaScript and React, Angular, or similar frameworks).

• Build and style responsive, accessible, and user‑friendly interfaces that provide a polished and effective user experience for VA stakeholders.
• Integrate front‑end components with backend REST services and APIs, collaborating closely with backend engineers to support AI‑enabled workflows.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to incorporate AI‑driven insights and decision support into intuitive user interfaces and front‑end workflows, including using AI tools (e.g., Implement front‑end best practices for performance, security, and scalability in a cloud‑hosted environment (e.g., AWS or Azure).
• Work with UX designers and product owners to translate requirements and wireframes into production‑ready UI components and screens.
• Support front‑end testing, debugging, and performance optimization, including unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing where applicable.
• Maintain clear documentation for front‑end components, UI patterns, and integration points with APIs and platform services.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience) and 5 years of experience. S. Citizen; Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Front‑End Development:

• Hands‑on experience building front‑end web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with at least one modern front‑end framework or library (e.g., ReactJS, Angular, or Vue).
• Experience with Material UI or a similar component library.
• Experience using version control (Git) with platforms such as GitLab or GitHub.
• Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Experience integrating front‑end applications with backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative Agile environment.
