Job summary

Spatial Front, Inc. is seeking a Senior Front-End Software Engineer to join our Federal Government team and modernize a cloud-based platform for data sharing and analytics.

You will design and build scalable web apps using Angular or React, with TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3, delivering high-performance user experiences for complex datasets. You'll collaborate with UI/UX designers and back-end teams in an Agile environment, ensure accessibility and security, and help implement CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications

• 8+ years of front-end software engineering experience.
• Expertise with Angular or React and modern web technologies.
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, PostgreSQL, Java, and Node.js.

Spatial Front, Inc. (SFI), a two-time USA Today Top Workplaces awardee and Washington Top Workplaces honoree, is seeking Senior Front-End Software Engineers to support our Federal Government customer. This role supports one of DOT's NHTSA initiatives — a modern, cloud-based platform that empowers data sharing, business intelligence, and advanced analytics through AI and machine learning capabilities. As a UI/UX-focused Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and developing dynamic, responsive, and scalable web applications using modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js. You’ll collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, back-end engineers, and data professionals to deliver engaging, intuitive, and high-performance user experiences across complex datasets and analytics tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop responsive, scalable, and high-performance web applications using Angular (v8+) or React.
• Translate UI/UX wireframes and mockups into high-quality front-end code.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure web applications, integrating cloud infrastructure via AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and implementing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, conducting code reviews, mentoring junior developers, and optimizing existing applications for performance and security.
• Integrate and consume RESTful APIs and external data sources.
• Optimize application performance to ensure fast load times and seamless user experiences.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code using TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Conduct unit and end-to-end testing with tools such as Jasmine, Karma, and Protractor.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Ensure 508 accessibility compliance and cross-browser compatibility.
• Participate in code reviews, maintain CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and support ongoing application improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. May substitute six (6) years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
• 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with a focus on front-end development.
• Proven expertise with Angular, React, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, PostgreSQL, Java, and Node.js.
• Strong understanding of modular code, routing, lazy loading, and performance tuning.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps environments using Jira and Confluence.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services and serverless computing (e.g., S3, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to pass a U.S. Public Trust background investigation (fingerprinting required).

Desired Skills

• Experience with both Angular and React or hybrid front-end frameworks.
• Background in developing UI for customer-facing applications.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of security best practices (OAuth, JWT).
• Experience with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) or server-side rendering (Angular Universal).
• Federal project experience and understanding of FISMA, FedRAMP, and Section 508 standards.

Additional Information

• Clearance: Must be authorized a US citizen or green card holder and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Background checks may include Criminal History, Education Verification, Employment Verification, Professional Certifications, and Credit History. (Public Trust investigations typically take 4–8 weeks and require fingerprinting.)
• Work Environment: Hybrid, with required on-site support as needed.
• Salary Range: $90,000 – $150,000 annually
