Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a platform engineering professional to design and build CMDB/DCIM systems and related automation in a production environment. You will own end-to-end projects, from concept through deployment and production readiness, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes scalable, fault-tolerant architectures, data migrations, and integration with vendors and internal systems. Strong Python/Go skills and IaC experience are essential.

Qualifications

3+ years of professional software development experience building production systems.
Experience designing RESTful APIs, data models, and distributed systems.
Hands-on experience with Docker and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Redis).
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
Knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and networking basics.

Responsibilities

Design and build a next-generation CMDB and DCIM platforms for assets, topology, and configurations.
Develop asset lifecycle management from receiving to decommissioning.
Build monitoring, observability, and intelligent alarming with IT telemetry.
Create self-service portals and automation for region bootstrap and day-2 operations.
Automate workflows and build orchestration across incident, change, and problem management.
Develop digital twin visualizations and dashboards with data-team partners.
Integrate internal platforms with vendors and third-party systems.
Champion infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and observability-first design.
Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Design fault-tolerant, high-performance systems handling thousands of QPS.

Job description

Design and build a next-generation CMDB as the authoritative source for infrastructure assets, network topology, and configuration data
Create DCIM platforms for rack operations, server/GPU deployment, OS installation, quality assurance, and white-screen operations
Develop asset lifecycle management systems for receiving, racking, inventory, break-fix, and decommissioning
Build monitoring and observability platforms integrating BMS, EPMS, and IT telemetry with intelligent alarming and incident management
Create self-service portals and automation for region bootstrap, day-2 operations, and fleet-scale management
Automate workflows and build orchestration systems spanning incident, problem, and change management
Develop digital twin visualizations and operational dashboards with data-team analytics partnership
Create integration layers connecting internal platforms with vendors and third-party systems
Collaborate with data center operations, systems, network, security, product, business, support, and operations teams
Evaluate build-versus-buy decisions for platform components
Champion CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and observability-first design
Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing
Design fault-tolerant, high-performance systems handling thousands of QPS
Build monitoring, logging, debugging, and robust error-handling capabilities
Implement data migration strategies and manage platform dependencies
Own projects end-to-end from concept through deployment and production readiness

Requirements

3+ years of professional software development experience building production systems
Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or similar languages
Understanding of system design patterns
Experience designing RESTful APIs, data models, and distributed systems
Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and Redis
Hands-on experience with Docker and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and Linux/Unix environments
Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to scalability, reliability, and operations
Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience with CMDB or asset management platforms such as NetBox or Device42
Background in infrastructure automation, DevOps, or platform engineering
Familiarity with Temporal, Airflow, or Camunda
Knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
Experience with time-series databases and data visualization
Understanding of ITIL and service management practices
Experience in data center operations, facilities management, or physical infrastructure
Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Authorization to work in the United States
