Job summary

Jobtailor in Manassas, VA is seeking an experienced Automation/DevOps Engineer to develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling that reduce manual effort and improve infrastructure service delivery. • Experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Basic understanding of Linux, networking, DNS, APIs, and infra support concepts.
• Experience creating scripts, automation workflows, or small operational tools.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD concepts, testing, and code reviews.
• Ability to read documentation and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scripts, utilities, and automation workflows to improve service delivery.
• Build internal tools, dashboards, reports, and self-service capabilities for operations, monitoring, provisioning, and incident response.
• Translate operational needs into practical automation and tooling solutions.
• Create integrations using APIs, CLIs, web services, and automation interfaces.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, source control, testing, reviews, and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot automation workflows, Linux systems, APIs, networking, DNS, monitoring, and related infrastructure services.
• Automate provisioning, health checks, reporting, validation, maintenance, and compliance evidence collection.
• Develop reusable code, templates, playbooks, or modules for consistent infrastructure operations.
• Improve monitoring and observability through alerts, metrics, log collection, dashboards, and reporting automation.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams.
• Apply secure coding and operational practices, including access control, secrets handling, auditability, error handling, and documentation.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, developer notes, SOPs, and runbooks.
• Participate in production support, on-call activities, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
