Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Software Engineer for its Network Firewall team in Austin/Atlanta. You will work on large-scale, distributed systems to deliver new features, improve performance, and scale our Network Services products, focusing on high-throughput, low-latency requirements.

You’ll evolve the Firewall with RESTful APIs, data pipelines, and security capabilities, collaborating with engineers and product managers.

Qualifications

• Experience building and shipping large-scale, reliable distributed systems.
• Experience with Go and/or Rust is valuable.
• Expertise in L3/L4 networking protocols; L2 experience is valuable.
• Experience building high-performance network security products (firewalls, IDS/IPS, DDoS mitigation).
• Experience with low-latency userspace packet processing; familiarity with Linux networking primitives (netfilter, nftables, eBPF, tc).
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and backend systems.
• Experience with large-scale distributed data pipelines, from data structuring to querying and analysis.
• Excellent debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills for high-throughput, latency-sensitive systems.

• Deliver new features across a wide range of technologies and systems.
• Improve performance and increase the scalability of Network Services products.
• Evolve Cloudflare’s Network Firewall and related security capabilities across north-south and east-west architectures.
• Build, deploy, and operate your team’s systems on one of the world’s largest edge networks.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to solve meaningful problems for customers.
