Job summary

Smarty invites you to join our software engineering internship in Orem, UT. Students pursuing a BS in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering will contribute to backend and API projects while gaining hands-on development experience.

The program runs January 2027 through August 2027, with a minimum of 15 hours per week during Winter/Spring terms and potential additional summer hours. Onsite only.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with software development through class projects or internships is preferred.
• Knowledge of relational databases and basic SQL concepts is expected.
• Hands-on experience with programming languages is required.
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
• Enjoyment of learning and having fun while working with a team.

This paid internship for students extends from January 2027 to the end of Summer Term (mid-August 2027). We are looking for a minimum of 15+ hours/week during Winter/Spring Terms, with the opportunity to work additional hours during the Summer term.

You will work closely with a small yet stellar team of software engineers to build and integrate our business backend and API products. You'll be at the forefront of innovation in location data intelligence by creating meaningful experiences for customers while learning the answers to life, the universe and everything.

** This role is onsite, non-remote, in our Orem office. **
