Job summary

Mercury Insurance Services, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain complex software systems. You will work on more advanced projects than entry-level roles and mentor junior engineers within Mercury's engineering teams.

The position emphasizes high-quality code, robust designs, and collaboration across teams, with a strong foundation in Java or Python, frontend basics, databases, and CI/CD. Opportunities to explore AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science preferred.
• 2 to 4 years of programming experience.
• 5+ years of experience with Java or Python preferred.
• 2+ years frontend technologies (Angular or React).
• 2+ years SQL and NoSQL databases.
• 1+ years CI/CD with Jenkins, GitHub, Docker or Kubernetes.
• Experience with REST and gRPC APIs.
• Exposure to Guidewire.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality code for medium-complexity scenarios with good test coverage.
• Translate product requirements into robust designs for modular, scalable applications.
• Assist with application system support as needed.
• Participate in design and code reviews to ensure best practices and Mercury standards.
• Mentor engineers and promote innovation and excellence.
