Job summary

JPMorganChase in Chicago is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Commercial & Investment Bank Digital Platform teams. You will operate in an agile setting, delivering secure, scalable software components and APIs, with a focus on Java, Spring Boot, React, and TypeScript.

You’ll work across SDLC stages, collaborate on design and code reviews, and leverage AI-assisted tooling to improve quality and speed.

Qualifications

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience.
Proficiency in Java and building APIs/services using Spring Boot.
Proficiency in building modern UIs using React and TypeScript.
Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts; ability to write and optimize queries.
Hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle including design, development, code review, testing, deployment, and production support.
Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing practices, and operational stability.
Experience with enterprise-scale environments using modern languages and database querying languages.
Exposure to Agile delivery practices and engineering disciplines such as CI/CD, resiliency, and secure software development practices.
Hands-on experience using AI-assisted developer tools in day-to-day workflows with responsible use.
Exposure to agentic AI workflows and related patterns/tools, including automation patterns.

Responsibilities

Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance.
Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review and testing.
Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems.
Applies knowledge of SDLC tools to improve automation value.
Applies technical troubleshooting to solve basic complex problems.
Gathers and analyzes large data sets to identify problems and support secure, stable application development.
Learns and applies system processes and skills for secure, stable code and systems.
