Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Software Engineer II for the HMS Factory Team to build and maintain Python-based tooling for analysis of simulation data, logs, and metrics. You will work with autonomy, systems, and software engineers to evaluate AI Pilot behaviors through repeatable simulation testing and data-driven analysis.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
• Foundational software-development experience in Python.
• Familiarity with Python scripting, automation, and data processing.
• Familiarity with Linux development environments and shell scripting.
• Understanding of core software-engineering practices (Git, code review, automated testing).
• Exposure to automated testing, CI/CD systems, and simulation environments.
• Basic understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and related tooling.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. SECRET security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain Python scripts and libraries for analysis of simulation data and metrics.
• Support development of analysis tools processing simulation outputs and test artifacts.
• Help build and maintain automated test workflows and wrappers around internal test-orchestration tools.
• Assist with developing test adapters, configuration files, and automation utilities in Python and C++ as needed.
• Contribute to scenario-generation tools creating varied simulation conditions for testing autonomy behaviours.
• Write and maintain domain-randomization scripts across test runs.
• Investigate test failures by reviewing logs, telemetry, and test results.
• Improve repeatability and reporting through reusable templates and utilities.
• Support containerized development and testing environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Contribute to prototype configurations for distributed testing and deployment (Terraform, Helm).
• Support source-control practices, CI/CD pipelines, and build troubleshooting.
