Shield AI is seeking an Software Engineer I on the HMS Factory Team to help build automated testing, log-analysis, and scenario-generation tools for the Hivemind Platform. You’ll work with engineers to evaluate AI Pilot behaviors through repeatable simulation testing and data-driven analysis.

This hands-on role is ideal for an early-career developer interested in autonomy, simulation, test infrastructure, data analysis, and distributed systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE, aerospace, or related field.
• Foundational Python development experience.
• Familiarity with Python libraries NumPy, Pandas, matplotlib.
• Linux development environment, shell scripting, debugging.
• Core software practices: Git, automated testing, debugging.
• Structured data formats and APIs (JSON, YAML, CSV, REST).
• Exposure to automated testing, CI/CD, simulation, robotics, autonomy.
• Containers: Docker, Podman, Kubernetes.
• Ability to obtain active U.S. SECRET clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python scripts to analyze simulation data and metrics.
• Support analysis tools for simulation outputs, telemetry, rosbags.
• Build automated test workflows and wrappers around HMS Forge.
• Develop test adapters and automation utilities in Python and C++.
• Create scenario-generation tools for varied simulation conditions.
• Write domain-randomization scripts for environment and sensor parameters.
• Investigate failures by reviewing logs, telemetry, and test results.
• Maintain reusable test templates and standardized reporting outputs.
• Support containerized development environments with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Configure distributed testing with Terraform/Kubernetes manifests.
• Assist with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and build troubleshooting.
• Create developer docs and setup guides for the tools.
• Participate in code reviews and debugging sessions.
