Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the HMS Factory Team, building and maintaining automated testing, log-analysis, and scenario-generation tools for the Hivemind Platform. You will work with autonomy, systems, and software engineers to evaluate AI pilot behaviors through repeatable simulation testing and data-driven performance analysis.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• Foundational Python development experience gained through coursework, internships, or work.
• Familiarity with Python scripting, automation, and data processing (NumPy, Pandas, matplotlib helpful).
• Experience with Linux environments, CLI, shell scripting, and debugging.
• Understanding of Git-based version control, code reviews, automated testing, and debugging.
• Exposure to CI/CD systems, simulation environments, robotics, or developer tooling.
• Basic container knowledge with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain Python scripts and libraries to analyze simulation data and extract metrics.
• Support analysis tools processing simulation outputs, telemetry, rosbags, and test artifacts.
• Help build automated test workflows and wrappers around internal test-orchestration tools.
• Create programmatic scenario-generation tools for varied simulation conditions.
• Contribute to domain-randomization scripts varying environmental and sensor parameters.
• Investigate test failures by reviewing logs, telemetry, and configuration files.
• Maintain reusable test templates and standardized reporting outputs.
• Assist with containerized development and testing environments using Docker/Kubernetes.
• Contribute to distributed testing configurations (Terraform/Kubernetes manifests).
• Support source-control practices, CI/CD pipelines, and build troubleshooting.
