Job summary

Shield AI seeks an experienced Senior Software Test & Automation Engineer to design and maintain automated test infrastructure for the Hivemind and autonomy software portfolio. You will work with autonomy software, systems engineering, and flight test teams to ensure repeatable validation across simulation, SIL, HIL, and VIL environments.

You will develop Python-based tooling, integrate tests into CI/CD, and build metrics that demonstrate software readiness for operational deployment.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/EE/AE/ME
• 4–7 years in software test/automation for robotics, autonomy, or aerospace
• Proficient in Python for automation and testing
• Experience building automated test frameworks
• Experience with Linux-based development environments
• Experience validating software in simulation, SIL/HIL, and/or hardware environments
• Strong debugging of complex software and system integration issues
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of software verification and QA methodologies

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and tooling for autonomy software.
• Plan and execute verification and validation across simulation, SIL, HIL, and VIL environments.
• Build automated regression, integration, functional, and performance test suites.
• Develop Python-based automation and analysis tools to reduce manual testing.
• Analyze results to identify defects and support cross-functional investigations.
• Create software quality metrics and readiness assessments.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD workflows for rapid feedback.
• Collaborate with autonomy software, systems, flight test, and integration teams to define strategies.
• Improve validation methodologies and coverage across operations portfolio.
