Job summary

Cox Automotive in the USA is seeking a Software Engineer II for NextGear Capital to help build and evolve systems and digital capabilities powering a leading inventory finance business.

You will work with product managers, architects, and engineers to design, build, test, and deliver high-quality software, while applying AI-enabled workflows and maintaining code quality, security, and ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience in a related field.
• AI-Augmented Mindset: Consistent, effective use of AI coding assistants across the SDLC.
• Spec Driven Development (SDD) experience is a plus.
• Problem Solving: Sound analytical judgment and troubleshooting abilities.
• Full Stack Proficiency across backend/frontend tech stacks, with depth in at least one layer.
• Version Control & Collaboration: Familiar with Git workflows and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI agents to build, test, and deploy software across the SDLC.
• Contribute to prompt engineering experimentation and share tool usage insights with the team.
• Engage in design and development discussions, helping conceptualize outcomes from a software perspective.
• Assist with feature/element estimation in terms of technical input, resources, time, and outcomes.
• Develop and implement unit and system tests with secure coding practices.
• Provide technical support for existing and new features within application and system structures.
• Use observability tools to monitor system health, diagnose issues, and validate changes in production.
• Document processes to capture best practices and repeatability for future work.
• Update teammates and stakeholders on status, challenges, and concerns.
• Participate in code reviews and provide/receive feedback.
• Take ownership of assigned work and drive it to completion with minimal oversight.
