Job summary

NextGear Capital seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and evolve scalable software across the full SDLC in an AI-enabled environment. You’ll translate complex business challenges into reliable systems and clear technical specs.

You will mentor peers, influence development practices, and contribute to architectural decisions while delivering working software each sprint. This is a hands-on role that combines engineering craft with leadership in a fast-paced automotive finance

Qualifications

Advanced use of AI coding assistants across the SDLC, with judgment on when AI is appropriate.
Demonstrated depth across backend/frontend tech and data modeling.
Strong knowledge of logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring tools.
Fluent Git workflows and collaborative development practices.
Clear communication of technical tradeoffs and risks to teams.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with AI agents and tools to build, test, and deploy software across the SDLC.
Define coding standards, review practices, and ethical guidelines for AI use.
Mentor peers and coach junior team members on AI-augmented development.
Serve as a participating member on teams to develop, improve, and deliver product elements.
Break down requirements into tangible, estimable objectives and provide recommendations.
