Job summary

Global Payments is seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications for the Portal team. You will collaborate with Product, Development, QA, and cross-functional teams to deliver features that improve usability and performance.

The role requires 5+ years in front-end and backend Java ecosystems, with Agile/SAFe experience and strong CI/CD discipline. Hybrid work model in Cincinnati, OH, with visa restrictions noted.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 5+ years of software development, front-end tech (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• 5+ years in RESTful APIs and microservices (Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA).
• Experience in Agile/SAFe environments and modern delivery practices (Scrum, CI/CD, TDD, BDD, DevOps).
• Strong Git, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, and DevOps tooling experience (Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Maven).
• Hands-on with cloud-native tech (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational DBs (Snowflake, DB2, MS SQL Server) and IDEs (IntelliJ, Eclipse, VS Code).
• Excellent communication and cross-time-zone collaboration; knowledge of data streaming (Kafka) is a bonus.

What you’ll own

Drive innovation and operational excellence through the delivery of new features, services, and product enhancements. Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable, and responsive web applications across multiple devices and platforms. Collaborate with Product, Development, QA, and cross-functional teams to implement requirements and improve product usability. Adhere to SDLC processes, coding standards, security requirements, and software engineering best practices. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application issues across development, testing, and production environments. Leverage CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted development practices to improve software quality, efficiency, and delivery. Provide technical leadership through solution design, implementation coordination, release support, and consistent delivery of commitments.

What you’ll bring

• A bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
• 5+ years of experience in software development, front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and modern frameworks such as Angular, React, or Ionic
• 5+ years of experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, and Spring Data JPA
• Experience working in Agile/SAFe environments with modern software delivery practices including Scrum, CI/CD, TDD, BDD, DevOps, and automation
• Strong experience with Git, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, AI agent-driven development, and DevOps tools including Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, and Maven
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native technologies including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipeline implementation
• Proficiency in complex SQL and relational databases such as Snowflake, DB2, or Microsoft SQL Server, along with development tools like IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, and Visual Studio Code
• Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across distributed teams and time zones
• It’s a bonus if you have Experience with data streaming (i.e. Kafka), data messaging and event driven systems
