Job summary

Sierra, based in San Francisco, is seeking an experienced software engineer to help build long-horizon AI agents and the platform that powers them. You will design and implement primitives, orchestration, and multi-channel engagement to enable agents that learn and improve over time.

You will work across product and engineering to translate complex problems into durable infrastructure and scalable services, with a builder’s mindset and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
• Strong platform and systems engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to move between customer problems, product design, and technical implementation.
• Strong technical judgment in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
• Builder mindset with capacity to take products from zero to one.
• Comfort working directly with customers and understanding complex business processes.
• High agency, adaptability, and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Build primitives for self improvement: Create feedback loops, evaluation systems, memory, signals, and decisioning infrastructure.
• Build the future of long-horizon agents: Design and ship agents that pursue complex outcomes across channels.
• Turn 0-to-1 work into a platform: Identify patterns and build reusable systems and tools.
• Solve technically complex problems: Work across orchestration, data, memory, signals, observability, and integrations.
• Shape the Horizon product: Define architecture and roadmap with product and engineering.
• Create a clean path beyond the POC: Translate solutions into durable platform capabilities.
