Job summary

KoBold Metals is hiring a Software Engineer to embed with mineral exploration teams and build state-of-the-art data systems. You will own data pipelines and tools that empower scientists and engineers in field and lab settings, driving measurable exploration outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of software engineering experience, strong Python skills, and a passion for large-scale systems. This role offers remote work with periodic field exposure in project settings.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally building production cloud data systems.
• Proficiency with Python.
• Ability to write production-quality code that is correct, readable, well-tested, scalable and extensible.
• Skilled in large-scale system design.
• A track record of taking ownership from definition of the problem and delivering projects with demonstrated impact.

Responsibilities

• Deep engagement with exploration geologists and data scientists, tailoring technology to exploration needs.
• Building data pipelines and tooling for deriving advanced insights from exploration data, often leading a small group of engineers.
• Developing expertise in KoBold’s Data Systems and understanding their impact on exploration.
• End-to-end ownership of projects from design to implementation and testing with ongoing engagement with teams.
• Responding to design and code feedback and providing feedback to teammates.
• Operationally managing the team’s services and assisting scientific colleagues with tooling.
