Job summary

KoBold Metals is hiring Software Engineers to accelerate our mission in mineral exploration. You will embed with users, build data pipelines, and own systems from design through deployment, solving complex data challenges in a field-facing environment.

Our stack centers on Python, Django, React, AWS, and tools like Retool and Prefect. You will collaborate with data scientists, geologists, and engineers to unlock insights and drive discoveries of critical energy transition metals.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally building production cloud data systems.
• Proficiency with Python.
• Ability to write production-quality code that is correct, readable, well-tested, scalable and extensible.
• Skilled in large-scale system design.
• A track record of taking ownership from definition of the problem and delivering projects with demonstrated impact in an iterative manner.
• Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn about all aspects of mineral exploration, particularly with geology.
• Ability to explain technical problems to domain experts who are not software developers and collaborate on solutions.
• Excitement about joining a fast-growing early-stage company with a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage with exploration geologists and data scientists to tailor technology development.
• Build data pipelines and tooling; lead a small group of engineers to delivery.
• Develop expertise in KoBold’s Data Systems and understand their impact on exploration.
• Own projects end-to-end from design to testing to ongoing engagement with teams.
