Job summary

Commure is hiring a mid-level Software Engineer to build the backend powering AI Voice Agents that handle scheduling, rescheduling, and intake. They integrate directly with the EHR and telephony stack in real time.

You will work on real-time voice pipelines, APIs, and data models, shipping daily in a small team, with room to grow into harder problems. The role is on-site in Mountain View, CA, five days a week, focusing on latency, reliability, and observability.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of backend software experience, primarily in Python.
• Experience shipping production services, APIs, and data models.
• An intuition for how people interact with automated assistants through voice and text.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services in Python powering real-time voice agents and EHR write-back.
• Contribute to low-latency pipelines connecting telephony, ASR, LLMs, and TTS.
• Integrate with healthcare systems (Epic, Cerner, athena) for scheduling and intake.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to design APIs, data models, and event-driven workflows.
• Partner with AI, product, and operations to ship features used by patient access teams.
• Own the quality of what you ship: latency, reliability, observability, and release readiness.
