Job summary

ID.me seeks a Software Engineer (SDE3) for Developer Experience and AI Platform to automate and simplify software delivery. The role focuses on self-service tooling, golden paths for multiple languages, and AI-enabled developer workflows within the Core Platform Engineering group.

You will design and implement scalable tooling, guardrails, and autonomous agents to reduce toil, improve security, and accelerate code changes in a large in-office team in McLean, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3+ years of professional software development experience building backend services, developer tooling, or platform automation.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Go/Python/JS/Java) and cross-language tooling experience.
• Proven use of AI and Agentic AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, LLM APIs, MCP servers) to accelerate delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build Self-Service Platforms & guardrails to speed deployment while preventing breaking changes.
• Develop language-specific paved paths with scaffolding, SDKs, and templates for production readiness.
• Create AI-enabled developer workflows and agent integrations to reduce cognitive load.
• Automate ownership and maintenance with autonomous AI agents for upgrades and remediation.
• Eliminate toil by automating workflows across product, infra, SRE, and security.
