Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is seeking a Backend Engineer to join a fast-growing infrastructure software company. You will own design and implementation of distributed backend services, building REST APIs in Node.js and gRPC in Golang for orchestration and automation.

You will drive architectural decisions, focus on state management, observability, reliability, and collaborate with infra and product teams to translate complex requirements into production-grade systems across AI-enabled

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficient with Node.js and Golang in production.
• Experience building distributed systems at scale.
• Experience with MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, gRPC, Linux, and containers.
• Strong focus on scalability, reliability, observability, and ops.
• Ability to translate high-level infrastructure requirements into production designs.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Backend Engineer to join a small, senior engineering team where individual contributions carry real architectural weight. The successful candidate will own the design and implementation of distributed control plane services, building REST APIs in Node.js and gRPC services in Golang that power the platform's orchestration and automation layer. The role also involves driving key architectural decisions across APIs and internal services, and designing resilient, scalable systems with a strong focus on state management, observability, and operational reliability.

Responsibilities:

• You will be owning the design and implementation of scalable backend services powering network automation workflows across complex AI infrastructure deployments


• You will be driving architectural decisions across APIs, internal services, and distributed control plane components


• You will be building REST APIs in Node.js and gRPC services in Golang that underpin the orchestration and automation layer


• You will be designing resilient distributed systems for high-scale infrastructure environments, with a focus on state management, observability, and lifecycle operations


• You will be improving system scalability, resiliency, and operational reliability across the platform


• You will be driving engineering best practices around reliability, testing, and CI/CD


• You will be collaborating closely with infrastructure, networking, and product teams to translate high-level requirements into production-grade implementations

Skills/Must Have:

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience


• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and Golang in production environments


• Proven experience building distributed systems at scale


• Experience with MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, gRPC, Linux, and containers


• Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, observability, and operational excellence


• The ability to translate high-level infrastructure requirements into technical designs and production-ready implementations

Desirable Skills:

• Background in infrastructure, networking, or cloud companies


• Familiarity with Kubernetes and event-driven systems


• Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms


• Exposure to AI infrastructure environments
