The State Board of Education is made up of 19 members - 11 who are elected and eight who are appointed by the governor. The chairs of the education committees of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Senate serve as non-voting ex officio members. The Superintendent of Public Instruction serves as secretary of the State Board of Education.
The Office for Professional Conduct administers the ethical standards for educators. The office investigates allegations involving criminal or ethical violations to ensure that all Ohio students receive instruction from educators committed to a safe, supportive and healthy school community.
The Software Development Specialist 3 plays a key role at the board. In this position, you will be responsible for:
Write, edit, test, debug, and optimize program code to create or modify the applications used by employees and the citizens of Ohio. Work as part of a team of developers and/or as the primary/sole developer based on the need and work assignment.
Ensure code passes functional, performance, and load tests and adheres to State of Ohio security standards.
Participate in Agile planning activities such as effort estimation, sprint planning, and design reviews.
Perform investigation and analysis of technology and processes to improve how the Department creates software. As a technical subject matter expert on a variety of application development subjects, share your knowledge to grow the capabilities of the entire team.
Ensure the software products are high quality by participating in code reviews and coordinating with the application testing team on all aspects of testing. Assist IT leadership with the development, monitoring, and documentation of quality standards.
This role is an in‑office position, requiring attendance on-site five days per week
