Ohio Department of Health is seeking a Software Development Specialist 2 to design and implement systems analysis, recommend application solutions, and support testing and deployment of MS .NET applications. Strong collaboration with business units will drive software requirements and lifecycle activities.

The role emphasizes documentation, standards development, and occasional leadership of technical discussions across teams within the ODH enterprise.

Formación

  • 48 mos. combined work experience in systems analysis, programming for computer applications, and testing/implementation tasks.
  • Experience with .NET Framework – C# and web development is preferred.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, SQL Server development is listed in evaluation criteria.

Responsabilidades

  • Identify and document system software requirements with business personnel.
  • Provide post-production support for business applications including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in reviewing and evaluating software development methodologies.
  • Perform software implementation tasks including source control and deployment activities.

Job Description
What You'll Do

The Office of Management Information Systems administers the computer-based management systems across the ODH enterprise. The office is responsible for maintaining ODH computer networks and servers and for the development and implementation of strategies that support the current and future technology needs of the agency. We are seeking a Software Development Specialist 2 to design and perform systems analysis, recommend application solutions and/or tests and correct programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assist with documentation. The primary technology is Microsoft .Net Environment. This position will:

  • Workwith business personnel to identify and document system software requirements
  • Performpost production support for business applications which may include routine maintenance, enhancements and the need to perform research to aid in troubleshooting software production errors
  • Assist software development team in the review and evaluation of software development methodologies
  • Perform software implementation tasks, including source control and deployment activities
  • Assist in the development and documentation of appropriate standards and criteria for acceptable programming and systems development lifecycle activities
  • Lead discussion(s) or formal meetings with technical and/or non-technical personnel on simple to moderate technical topics in support of software development

Qualifications

48 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems AND 30 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems AND 24 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above. Note: The official position description on file with the designated agency is to reflect the required, primary technology directly relating to the duties of the position. Only those applicants possessing the experience in the required, primary technology listed in the position description & job posting are to be considered for any vacancies posted. ALL ANSWERS TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUPPORTED BY THE WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PROVIDED ON YOUR CIVIL SERVICE APPLICATION. Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 34, Step 1 of the union (OCSEA) Pay Range Schedule ($38.01 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($39.86 per hour) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
