Chewy Vet Care is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead engineering teams responsible for veterinary operations systems and care experiences. You will own the delivery of complex workflows and guide architecture to ensure reliability and scalability.

You will partner with UX, Product, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve usability and operational efficiency, shaping the next generation of user experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience, including scalable distributed systems.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams as a people manager.
• Experience delivering complex software in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with cloud-based architectures and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering team (8–10 engineers) focused on veterinary operations systems and care experiences.
• Own the technical and operational delivery of complex workflows (scheduling, communications, care operations).
• Partner with UX, Product, and cross-functional stakeholders to improve reliability and scalability.
• Provide architectural guidance for high availability and performance.
• Drive next-generation user experiences with usability and operational efficiency.
• Institute engineering best practices across design, development, testing, deployment.
• Champion engineering excellence, observability, incident management, and continuous delivery.
• Mentor engineers and grow talent while fostering ownership and innovation.
• Define and track success metrics aligned with business goals.
