Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a large, highly scalable engineering team within the Ads Marketing ecosystem in Seattle. You will design, develop, and maintain a distributed communication platform powering marketing and transactional communications across the Ads organization.

You will partner with PMs, TPMs, Scientists, and Engineers to shape a technical roadmap, drive long-term strategy, and establish engineering best practices that ensure reliability and scalable

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 13+ software engineers building the communication platform that powers all of Ads organization at scale for sending marketing and transactional communications.
• Partner with Product, Science and Marketing teams to define and execute the technical roadmap.
• Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and long term vision for 40+ services spanning across front-end, back-end, big data and agentic AI space.
• Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality metrics while fostering a culture of operational excellence and builder empowerment.
